Born from Sri Lankan migrants, HAYCH was fed hot curries and jazz crooners from a young age. Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald stirred in with a spicy dhal. Fast forward to age 8 and she was sonically amerced in Whitney Houston's ballads and singing her little heart out till her grade two teacher took notice and told her parents about her vocal abilities. Each vocal run Whitney sang was memorised and repeated till. Her mum entered her in every talent quest and competition around Melbourne till she saved up enough from her winnings to make her first recording at 13, ‘Songs in the key of H’. Her family bought every copy.
HAYCH cut her teeth touring with a broad range of artists from Gotye, Vika and Linda, to Triple J favourite Pez of 'Summer Days' fame and is now ready to take her exploding glitter cannon of colour, texture, sound and is sure to captivate listeners. From the influence of the classic crooners to the power ballads which led her to complete a degree in improvisational jazz, HAYCH is a Molotov cocktail ready to explode. A musical recipe that has created one of Melbourne's best-kept secrets and a vocalist of great technical intelligence and earnest storytelling.
In 2023 HAYCH will release her debut single HEAVY. The project is Future Soul with a classy glitch, which combines her vulnerability and strength, dark and light, in enviable harmonies and edgy R&B electro-pop. HAYCH co-produced the single and upcoming EP with her friend and producer Ariel Blum.
